Joseph Alli, MA, CHES, CASAC2, CRPA
Joseph Alli earned an associate degree in liberal arts from Bard Prison Initiative in 2014. In 2019, he earned his bachelor's degree with a concentration in Public Health and Psychological Well-Being from the CUNY BA program for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies. He later graduated in 2020 with a master's degree in health education and promotion from Lehman College.
Mr. Alli currently works as the Associate Director for the CASES NEWSTART program in Harlem. newSTART provides an alternative to incarceration (ATI) specifically designed to support individuals with frequent low-level court involvement who are navigating significant barriers to success including homelessness and serious mental illness," according to the CASES website He is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), who works diligently in the community to educate individuals about behaviors that promote better health and wellness. Through NYS OASAS, Mr. Alli is a Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor 2 (CASAC-2) that provides diagnostic assessment, evaluation, intervention, referral and alcoholism and/or substance abuse counseling in both individual and group settings. In 2021, he also became a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA), which is a person with lived experience that guides individuals through the recovery process and advocates for them as they navigate the treatment system. After taking the Recovery Coach Trainer of Trainers, he became a trainer listed on the ASAP-NYCB Trainer Registry. Recently, Mr. Alli earned his Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) designation from CCAR. And lastly, as a Credible Messenger, Mr. Alli works with adults and at-risk youth and assists them in steering away from the sometimes detrimental decisions they make on a day-to-day basis.
Mr. Alli is the Co-Owner of I Phenomenal Unlimited LLC, a consulting agency, and a founder of Mentors Against Drugs and Guns through Experience, a youth mentoring program.
